Meet the Team

Dr. Deborah Aparicio (Daktari)

I am a small animal and exotics veterinarian dedicated to my medical practice in Concord, California. I am aIso certified in Wildlife Conservation and Rehabilitation. I understand the importance of mitigating conflict between wildlife and people as I support all species conservation while protecting human welfare. I have supported Kenya's wildlife since a very young age. Today, as the founder of Wild DVM, I join Kenya in its effort to eradicate Rabies by organizing vaccination campaigns in the Masai Mara.

As all populations grow we face new challenges to coexist. Rabies is an old and new concern, especially in marginal areas with no resources. Vaccinating village dogs against rabies helps slow the spread of this disease from wildlife to people through their dogs.

Tara Reichert

An experienced veterinary technician and a valued board member of WildDVM. She currently works in veterinary diagnostics at IDEXX, where she leverages her extensive hands-on knowledge of animal health. Tara's career began under the mentorship of Dr. Deborah Aparicio in her mixed general practice, where she honed her skills and developed a deep commitment to veterinary care. Her longstanding professional relationship with Dr. Aparicio has significantly influenced her career, and her dedication to wildlife preservation now drives her impactful work with WildDVM.

Outside of her veterinary career, Tara is an accomplished leatherworker and an enthusiastic member of a mounted drill team with her palomino mare and partner, Corona. She enjoys performing at PRCA rodeos and competing across the West Coast, blending her passion for traditional western craftsmanship with her love of equestrian sports.

Valerie Price

I’m excited to participate in the rabies vaccination project with the WildDVM Team.

This work is meaningful to me as I’ve been fostering dogs since 2008 along with volunteering with different rescue organizations and shelters.

In Kenya, dogs play an important role in guiding livestock and protecting their families. Providing vaccines can significantly reduce the number of rabies cases and save lives. As a Health and Wellness Coach, I understand the vital connection and wellbeing between humans and animals. I’m an avid lover of nature, the environment, and animals. Through my passion for photography, I will document the events and share our team's efforts and progress.

Gina Noel

I practically grew up in Dr. Aparicio’s pet hospital, from volunteer work at a young age to eventually being a full-time vet tech.

While my compassion for animals never left me, I left the hospital setting and returned to school to become a full-time artist. With my AA in Graphic Design and a BFA in Illustration, I became the Creative Designer for Wild DVM.

My goal with my career is to merge art and science to bring awareness to issues and inspire curiosity in others to explore the natural world.

I had a hand in illustrating and designing the logo and currently assist with the technical side of social media and website editing.

Dr. Bunge Mathew Nchoko

A dedicated veterinary surgeon from a pastoral community, committed to improving animal health and human health.

Growing up in Narok, a region where livestock plays a central role in the community's livelihood, the deep connection with livestock and wildlife shaped his passion for veterinary medicine.

I specialize in the health, disease control and management of livestock, focusing on improving productivity and ensuring the well-being of animals to protect the livelihoods of the communities

Joined Wild Dvm to join effforts in the eradication of rabies, a significant concern in Kenyan communities. Being part of the team, I will take part in vaccination, educating the public about rabies prevention and collaboration to implement effective rabies control program.

I am deeply committed to bridging the gap between traditional pastoral practices and modern veterinary science, ensuring that the community is well equipped to combat diseases effectively and mentoring the next generation of veterinary professions.

Sharon Wanjiru Muita

I am a veterinary assistant graduate from Maasai Mara University with an unwavering passion for creating a rabies-free environment in Kenya and across Africa. My journey with Wild DVM was inspired by Dr. Deborah Aparicio, whose dedication to a rabies-free Kenya deeply resonated with me. Through this partnership, I have found a platform where I can contribute to the fight against this preventable disease.

Rabies is still a significant public health issue, especially in rural areas where resources are scarce. As a fatal yet entirely preventable disease, it continues to claim lives, largely due to lack of awareness and access to vaccinations. My work with Wild DVM is fueled by a strong commitment to eradicating rabies through a comprehensive approach involving education, vaccination programs, and community engagement.

I am driven by the vision of a future where rabies no longer threatens the lives of animals and people. My goal is to empower communities with knowledge, ensure that every animal is vaccinated, and advocate for systemic changes that prioritize public health and animal welfare. Together with Wild DVM and inspired by leaders like Dr. Aparicio, I am committed to turning this vision into a reality.
